About Us

Tidewater Masonry is a brick and stone restoration business serving the Hampton Roads region of Virginia since 2005. We specialize in installing and restoring masonry, chimneys, walkways, patios, porches, stoops, stairs, retaining walls, lintels and more. Our mission is to offer creative restoration solutions while preserving the unique characteristics of your masonry. 

Meet the Team

Co-owner Leonard Coté has 35+ years of masonry experience including 6 years working exclusively on chimneys in the Washington metropolitan area before moving to Norfolk in 2002. Leo's depth of experience, attention to detail and expert craftsmanship ensure creative, aesthetically pleasing masonry solutions. He is a founding member of our volunteer cemetery preservation group, the Cemetery Squad. In his spare time Leo enjoys acting, camping, rock balancing and creating concrete art. Co-owner Debra Lassiter-Coté studied business at TCC Portsmouth and York University and has 17 years of experience in construction management.  Her interests include creating and collecting art, preserving local history, cemetery conservation, genealogy and gardening. Debra is the founder and a member of our volunteer preservation group, The Cemetery Squad. She is also founder of the 41st Street Peace Garden and co founder of the Park Place Peace Garden.

Philip Parks, Australian, surfer and mason. Philip is a master mason from the DC area. He and Leo have worked on many projects together over the years and he assists when an important job needs another set of highly skilled hands.

Fun Fact: Leo played a brick mason in the 2016 film "Loving", starring Joel Edgerton & Ruth Negga, released November 2016. He also assisted in setting up and creating the masonry scenes. The filming was done in and around Richmond and we are so proud to be a part of such a landmark film, shot right here in VA.
